　　Today, there is an argument that writing a letter is no more worthy because modern technologies like emails and text messages are more powerful and convenient. Personally, I believe this assertion underestimates the values of writing letter on spiritual level, and my reasons would be explored as below.

　　Admittedly, the popularity of hand writing letters is being much lower than before, in terms of original advantages of telecommunication, and the first is about the speed of information exchange. Email of computer and text message of cell phone can deliver contents into the devices of the receiver in the distance of thousands of miles, in just few seconds. The second merit is the universal accessibility. Email technology is beyond the physical and geographic limits. In outdoor activities like driving or traveling abroad, people can still easily receive and send information through Internet-based computers and mobile phones, with no concern of missing any message. Besides, the process of sending message is simple and free of charge. All an addresser has to do is just clicking the mouse or touching the screen of cell phone. By contrast, after writing a paper letter, spending time and money on post office for mailing is always a big bother for the writer.

　　Despite of the virtues of telecommunication mentioned above, I still believe there is a space for the survival of writing letters. In terms of emotional connection, this outmoded way seems to be preferred by the public. For example, A written love letter has a higher-level emotional concentration and is more able to touch the inner heart of the target person, because it is not only a message conveyer, but also an expresser for love, kindness and romance. Similarly, in some special occasions requiring in-depth information, such as ceremonies of university graduation, wedding or funeral, there is nothing to compete with a handwritten letter that can completely express affection, warmth, congratulation empathy and condolences, recipient can cherish it as the evident of your generosity of spirit and loving heart.

　　In conclusion, the life of handwritten letters will last in the future, for the reason that they are uniquely valuable in maintaining the spiritual communication between human. However, writing letter would be the last option for the contemporary world, when it comes to the irreplaceable benefits telecommunication brings to us.

　　In my point of view, although hand-writing letter seems to be out-dated it is too early to say that this traditional mode of communication will disappear soon. Actually, the hand-writing letters are so important that they even would not disappear. This is largely because writing a letter by hand can achieve an unusual effect in some occasions. For example, when people send a letter of apology to a friend or a client: a hand-written one is definitely much more sincere than any email or text message. Another example is that people who are in love post letters to their lovers. This is a process involving the sweet and anxious waiting and the affection can only be better expressed through the effort of writing by hand.

　　Admittedly, some people may claim that letter writing is unimportant due to the fact that modem technology has made other means of information delivery available which could replace hand-writing letters. Therefore: they believe writing letters is not so important and will become minimal in people’s daily communication and interaction. However: people have to deal with the negative as well as positive feelings from their friends or lovers: and thus hand-writing letters are commonly the better choice to show the sincere affection.

　　Accordingly, letter-writing is important and would not disappear in the near future.
