Consumption of the world's resources(such as oil, fresh water, etc.) is increasing at a dangerous rate. What are the causes of this increased consumption? What can people do to reduce it?

　　能源需求增长，边远地区的石油和天气然被开发，这势必会对生物多样性和生态环境造成危害。

　　首先，我们的社会是一个资源连续消耗的社会，需要不断地石油和天然气供给，比如汽车，飞机等，还有就是一般情况下，边远地区蕴含着丰富的石油和天然气，所以这些地方被很多人看上。

　　第二，石油勘探发生的生态灾难时有发生，比如运输管道泄露引起的海洋污染导致五种灭绝。

　　最后，这些冲突可以促进新技术的发明。

　　结论：在保持生态平衡的条件下，我们可以探索更多的石油或者天然气，但是想要持续性发展，需要从根本上解决的问题是新能源的使用，比如核能，风能，潮汐能和太阳能。

　　In the process of industrialization and urbanization, the increasing demand for traditional energy sources entails people to look for sources of oil and gas in the remote and untouched places. Some maintain that such human behavior benefit the society because unexploited area will be found and utilized by human in the process. However, others believe that process of looking for sources such as oil and gas will cause pollution or reduce the biological diversity in that area. I prefer the second view.

　　First, it’s imperative to look for sources of oil and gas in remote and untouched places since our society are continuous consuming the resource. For example, necessaries in our life such as car, plane and electric power relay on oil and gas directly or indirectly. What’s more, instance in the history book recording human reasonable exploring of gas are various. Almost nothing grows in Alaska nothing since it’s location near the north pole, American bought it from the Russia in a low price and found abundant oil resource.

　　Second, ecological disaster news caused by oil exploration are often heard on the news. For example, oil transportation tube under the sea leaking can contribute to wide range sea surface pollution which will make most of the species extinct around the contaminated area.

　　Finally, conflict discussed above can be solved by development of new energy technology such as nuclear, tide , wind power. These can meet both the need of human energic and ecological reservation.

　　To sum up, conclusion can safely be draw that from the discussion above. With the precondition of ecological balance, we do need to explore the untouched area for gas and oil with the precondition of ecological balance. Furthermore, to solve the source problem fundamentally, new type of energy such as nuclear, wind, tide and solar power much be utilized widely.

　　Oil and gas resources are the important strategic resources, directly concerned with social and economic development and national energy security. It is inevitable for any country in the world to ensure continuous supply of oil and gas resources for modernization drive. Faced with the increasingly urgent crisis of oil and gas, some people claim that it is justified to exploit them in remote and untouched places. I agree with the opinion that oil and gas should be extracted in a moderate way with other alternative sources of energy extracted at the same time.

　　The current advanced technology makes it easier, safer, cleaner, and cheaper to extract oil and gas. For example, oil drilling is expected to be the one without damaging the environment and disturbing the plant and animal habitat, especially no accident such as oil spills. While this may be the case, people should have great justification to explore and develop sources of oil and gas in remote and untouched places since energy prices and quality of life could improve to a large extent.

　　Some environmentalists may oppose oil drilling, extracting these oil and gas deposits can result in lasting damage to the environment. Specifically, oil and gas exploration and development causes disruption of migratory pathways, degradation of important animal habitats, and oil spills-which can be devastating to the animals and humans who depend on these ecosystems. An additional reason given in support of this recommendation is that costs have begun dropping for several types of equipment currently used to convert solar energy into electricity and the corresponding technologies are now researched and developed. Hence we can expect solar energy, or other forms of energy to take the place of oil and gas as the most cost efficient and attractive energy.

　　In light of all the facts outlined above, we should carefully weigh up the merits and demerits before extracting oil and gas in remote and untouched places. In the meanwhile, we should turn to the alternative energy which is more eco-friendly to mitigate the energy crisis.
