Some people think that it is acceptable to use animals in medical research for the benefit of human beings, while other people argue that it is wrong. Discuss and give your own opinion.

一些人认为用动物作为医疗研究的实验对象是对人类有益的，而其他人认为这是错误的做法。讨论双边观点并给出你的看法。

　　反对用动物做实验的理由:1、残忍无人性、会导致实验权利滥用。2、违反动物生存权利。

　　认可动物做实验的理由:1、用于医药研究，为人类治愈疾病和减少临床风险以及医疗进步做出巨大贡献。对比起那些为了食用或商业利益的杀戮行为，为了人类利益用动物做实验具有合理性。2、计算机模拟和植物无法取代动物的特性，尚无代替的实验对象出现。3、实验室已有规定尽量限制动物实验的残忍程度和痛苦程度。

　　In modern society, laboratory testation on animals is a common way of ensuring the safety of a new medicine or medical procedure and most people have formed this conception that it is acceptable that animals are tested on for medical purpose. However, whether it is legal is different from whether it is ethical, especially when we see it not from our human perspective.

　　Obviously people who support this practice put more value on human life than animals’ and they believe that animals should be sacrificed for the benefits of human races. To maximize the health and safety of mankind, animal testation is the best way to get the accurate and reliable data for a particular medicine or procedure because animals have similar biological characters and structures. Conducting experiments on animals before launching a new therapy is also a responsible practice to patients who deserve every respect to their life.

　　However, it is equally reasonable to say that animals have their intrinsic right to life. In other words, animals and humans have totally the same rights to live on the earth and therefore no one should take the life of the other for any purpose. Animal protectors also raise the evidence that laboratory rats have nerve system which means that they can feel pain. That is why many opponents of animal testation suggest computer simulation, hoping to replace the cruel way of experimentation with machine.

　　To summarize this essay, while I believe animals should be respected under every circumstance, I have to admit that there is no better way than medical testation on animals to secure patients against potential dangerous effects. Reconciliation is hard to achieve, but suggestion can be to control the number of animals tested on in laboratory and reduce the pain that they may endure during the experiments."

　　In the contemporary society, there is a growing tendency for people, especially medical researchers, big companies and farmers, to use animals for their benefits such as testing new drugs and products, working in the farm etc. On the other hand, some people hold the opposite opinion that it is better to protect animals, give them a liberated/ free life. As fas as I am concerned, it is necessary to look at both sides/ the negative and positive aspects of the argument before forming an opinion.

　　To begin with, animals play an vital role in scientific research such as testing new medicine, medical treatments and products. As we know, Animals share many features with humans, scientist use animals to test the safety and effectiveness of newly developed drugs before pilot testing on small groups of patients. Without animal testing, many procedures of new drugs would be extremely unsafe. It means that many medical treatments and goods have been developed from experiments on animals.

　　Many people, however, argue that it is wrong to cause suffering to animals for the benefit of humans. It is admitted that animals are the member of the Earth, they also have their own right to live under freedom/liberty, which has no hunting and war. The lives of animals should be respected, and Humans have no moral rights to do experiments on animals. Therefore, Individuals should receive the duty to protect the endangered and rare species which play an important role in nature. In addition, There are useful alternative forms of research available now, such as the use of tissue cell cultures, so that no need to put the animals into the unnecessary suffering. Besides that, technology has largely replaces the use of animals in the fields of transport. So as I said, using animals adequately is not a gorgeous thing.

　　From what has been discussed above, we may draw safely conclusion that the advantage of protecting animals more significant than its disadvantage, and it will still play an essential role in the future. It is time to concentrate on developing alternative sources of food and methods of research, and allow animals a liberated/free existence.
