Recently there is a heated discussion on whether the government should give priority to improving healthcare or to solving environmental problems. Some people hold the idea that healthcare is vital to human beings while the others think that we should put emphasis on environmental problems. From my perspective, I am in favor of the latter. There are numerous reasons to be followed but here I intend to explore a couple of them.

In the first place, environmental protection is the basis on many aspects. Environmental pollution is becoming increasingly urgent in recent decades. It is reported that many habitats has been damaged, and that many species are in imminent danger of extinction. When environmental problems escalate to such a state of emergency, it would be immoral for governments not to take precedence over other pressing issues of the day.

Furthermore, there are so many diseases caused by the environment pollution. Nowadays, more and more private cars appear on the road emitting a lot of carbon dioxide and dusts. People are suffering from strange respiratory diseases such as SARS. Especially in winter of China, the haze is becoming more serious than before. The PM2.5 comes to our attention. People have to wear masks to avoid absorbing the tiny dusts floating in the air when going out but even so, the health of the people is still affected by the bad environment. With so many diseases caused by environment problems, we have no choice but to solve them without hesitation.

Last but not the least, only can we solve the environmental problems, the healthcare can truly have a difference on people’s lives. Healthcare does have some benefits for people. A well-developed healthcare system can ensure people’s health to some extent which can give people treatment whenever they are in need. So the government should give financial assistance on improving the health care. However, in the long run, improving the environmental condition is the key issue to ensure the health of people. Intrinsically, we should put the environmental protection on the priority. Only In this way, can the government make great contributions to the society and all the human beings enormously.

In a nutshell, the government should pay more attention on environmental problems than improving the healthcare.
