Personally, having discussions is the most effective way to study. I learn best by restating information in my own words and being challenged by classmates to communicate more carefully. I feel like I really know something, when I can explain it to others and I can only get that kind of experience when studying in a group and having discussions. When I am confused about a topic, my classmates' different explanations often elucidate the theme for me. Repeating materials or looking at my notes do not provide this dynamic learning environment and therefore aren't as good.
