多用语意具体的动词,保持句意简洁明了
例如:
1、原文:My supervisor went past my desk.
改写:My supervisor sauntered (=walked slowly) past my desk.
2、原文:She is a careful shopper.
改写:She compares prices and quality.
尽量运用主动语态
例如:
1、原文:The organization has been supported by charity.
改写:Charity has supported the organization.
2、原文:The biscuits were stacked on a plate.
改写:Mother stacked the biscuits on a plate.
杜绝滥用陈旧词语或难懂的专业术语
例如:
1、原文:They will not agree to his proposals in any shape or form.
改写:They will not agree to any of his proposals.
2、原文:I need her financial input before I can guesstimate our expenditures next fall.
改写:I need her financial figures before I can estimate our expenditures next fall.
避免使用语意弱的“be”动词
1、把句中的表语转换为不同的修饰语。例如:
原文:The trees are bare. The grass is brown. The landscape seems drab.
改写:The brown grass and bare trees form a drab landscape. (转换为前置定语)Or: The landscape, bare and brown, begged for spring green. (转换为并列结构作后置定语)
2、将作表语用的形容词或名词变为行为动词。例如:
1) 原文:The team members are good players.
改写:The team members play well.
2) 原文:One worker's plan is the elimination of tardiness.
改写:One worker's plan eliminates tardiness.
3、在以“here”或“there”开头的句子中,把“be”动词后的名词代词变成改写句的主语。例如:
1) 原文:There is no opportunity for promotion.
改写:No opportunity for promotion exists.
2) 原文:Here are the books you ordered.
改写:The books you ordered have arrived.
GMAT写作备考基本要求
GMAT写作备考并不提倡特立独行的立意或是诙谐讨巧的语言,反而它要求的是考生按照既定的结构进行讨论提出观点;因而考生需要确立对于GMAT的题目的惯用作文结构,并在考试中尽量遵循确立的结构快速形成作文的基本结构,尤其是开篇和收尾段,从而可以留有相对充裕的时间构思并写作中间部分。
