In such a high-civilized society, modern people who have already gotten the rid of poverty and hunger began to compare the value of money and free time. An opinion advocated by some of them is that money counts more than free time, while others hold the opposite one. It must be admitted that both sides are reasonable and sensible.
On one hand, of course a decent income is a must for people who pursue a higher living quality and shoulder the responsibility of supporting family. Fancy clothes, handbags in shop window, delicate cuisine in an elegant restaurant as well the first-tier service of resorts cost the single white-collar or the middle class a large amount of money. Similarly, the tuition of a private school, the monthly payment for a house and the daily expense impose a heavy financial burden on working parents. Obviously, under such a circumstance, much free time is likely to be out of demand on their way to achieve success in accumulating personal wealth.
On the other hand, for those who prefer a simple lifestyle and spiritual pursuit, a loose daily schedule is the first choice. It is impossible for them to appreciate the wonders of nature on weekends; to offer suggestions on trouble encountered by their children after work or to develop a hobby that can fulfill their potential, if time is mostly spent on earning money. Additionally, the pleasure acquired from reading a philosophy book, watching an award-winning film or merely medication does matter quite a lot for them. In other words, it is life itself that increases their general sense of satisfaction and well-being.
As far as I am concerned, the essence of being alive is to experience the flow of time and explore the inner heart of individuals. Life is so short; even though a great fortunate can purchase the most dazzling jewel, it can never make the time stay even for one second.
